Engineering specification of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) was changed in 2014 and the Lada Sport works team introduced the first photos of the Lada Granta made according to the new rules. It is not difficult to distinguish the race car from its predecessor: other bumpers and air intakes were used, and the body became wider (1950 mm).
They couldn’t do without modernization of technical components. Thanks to the new turbo compressor, the capacity of the 1,6-liter engine produced by the French Company Oreca increased to 380 hp. Changes also affected the suspension.
Now the red bullet is undergoing final tests at Magny Cours. The first competition heat of the race car Lada Granta WTCC will take place in Morocco on April 13. The Russian stage of the championship is scheduled for early June. It will be held on the famous track Moscow Raceway in the vicinities of Moscow.
The Lada Granta has been used in the WTCC since 2012. The Lada Priora and the Lada 110 represented the Russian producer in this competition earlier. They plan to prepare the Lada Vesta for it in future.
